COACH IN A LEAGUE WHERE THE GAME IS NOT THE POINT

Our coaches teach basketball, and through basketball they mentor young men in character and faith. You will open every practice with a devotional, you will shape how eight or nine boys handle winning and losing, and some of them will remember you for the rest of their lives. That is the job.

Here is what coaching actually asks of you:

Practices: one weeknight practice per week, November through the season, rotating through area gyms.

Game days: ten Saturdays, December 5 through late February, at Heritage.

Postseason: tournament over two March weekends, then the all-star game and awards night.

Coaches Day: one training day in October (combined with Draft Day this season, October 31).

WHAT WE EXPECT

A devotional at every practice, with materials provided. Character over winning: teams are drafted for balance and JV is developmental on purpose. You will acknowledge the handbook, and your players are held to the league commitment they agreed to at registration.

HOW SELECTION WORKS

The sign-up form collects your interest for head and assistant roles in JV and Varsity. Teams are drafted at the end of October, and coaches are confirmed and rostered after review. Signing up is not a guarantee of a team, but it is the only way to be considered.

VETTING, STATED PLAINLY

Every coach passes a background check (paid by the league), and every coach provides a pastoral reference. We do this because parents are trusting us with their sons, and we take that trust seriously.

Before you start the form: have your CPR certification file ready to upload. The form cannot accept a file after you submit. Not yet certified? Take the $15 Standard CPR/AED/First Aid course at nationalcprfoundation.com; CCBB reimburses the cost. If you cannot finish it before signing up, submit anyway and arrange your certification with the league before the season.

WORTH KNOWING

Coaches and board members get a $50 per child discount on player registration, and your son can play on your team.
